Row 80 Check in
I am totally excited to say that things have been rocking and rolling. I’ve kept up with my ” writing EVERY day” goal. I am averaging about five hundred words a day, mostly prompt writing.
As far as the novel analyzing goes, I’ve been getting that done too. I’m currently working on one of my favorite books (A Kiss of Shadows by Laurell K. Hamilton) which is proving a little difficult. I find myself wanting to just curl up and read rather than getting the job done. I am hoping to be done with this book by Wednesday. I’m sure the analyzing will go faster now that I’m getting used to the system. Hmm, if I could just curb that urge to kick back and enjoy…
Also, I would love a Row buddy. I am a paranormal romance/fantasy writer. I have a Twitter account, but I am more active on Facebook right now. I tend to be more social in the evenings. I will be doing NaNoWriMo next month as well. I am totally open though, just looking for someone motivated.

I have a similar goal of writing every day, which is working for me as I try to find my stride with a writing routine. Some days this week I only squeaked in 100 words, but that’s better than zero words. I had some great days too.
Good for you for making your goals, and I hear you about wanting to just curl up and read instead of reading for study. It’s a tricky balance :).

Good job on working to achieve your goals. They sound like good ones that you can handle. As far as novel analyzing goes, I do that sometimes, but usually for books I love and already read once. That way I’m not so caught up in the suspense and can actually take the time to pay attention to what the author did and why it worked. Just a thought for future reference, should you want to try something different 🙂
I’ve read this particular book twice already, and recently at that. I just love it. This is my first time analyzing novels though, so I’m sure it’ll get easier. Thanks for your input!

Congrats on keeping up with your goals. I see that you are a L.K. Hamilton fan. I am hooked on the Anita Blake series, can’t really get with Meredith… maybe one day. What’s this analyzing you’re doing? Sounds interesting… gotta go back and look at your old posts. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! And yes, I am a huge LKH fan. I’m the opposite of you though–hooked on Merry and working to get into Anita. I am only three books into the Blake series. As far as the analyzing goes, I read Plot & Structure by James Scott Bell earlier this year. He recommends a drill in which you do a scene by scene analysis of six novels in the genre you write. I’m just now getting back to it. It’s been really helpful thus far though.
